The ADCC Vancouver Open 2024 took place on October 26th, 2024 and there was plenty of fantastic competitors stepping on the mats. Although there were a few impressive performances on the day, 10th Planet black belt Amir Allam stood out for being absolutely flawless in his pursuit of two gold medals. He won the under 100kg and absolute divisions by submitting every single opponent he faced, finishing the day with a perfect 6-0 record. Katrina Mattern won the biggest prize in the women’s divisions after losing the first match her weight class, as she came back with four straight wins to win the absolute division.
Elite Canadian competitor Huthayfah Penney also delivered a standout performance, as he was able to submit all three of his opponents to win gold in the under 70kg division. Amezio Cardoso won the biggest weight class of the day at under 76kg, submitting two opponents and beating the other two on points. Legendary BJJ filmmaker Stuart Cooper also impressed in the under 91kg division, as he racked up three wins against tough competition in order to stand on top of the podium. Even though she’s not a professional grappler, UFC veteran Sarah Kaufman was probably the biggest name competing in the ADCC Vancouver Open 2024 and the former StrikeForce world champion won the under 70kg division.
