The Abu Dhabi World Pro 2023 took place from November 8th to 10th, 2023 and a whole new generation of champions were crowned in the results of each division. This is the annual jewel in the crown of the AJP Tour and it didn’t disappoint, as there was high level action in every weight class. Some of the men’s champions did manage to hold onto their crowns, with Meyram Maquine and Diego Sodre earning back-to-back titles at featherweight and lightweight respectively. There were far more repeat successes in the women’s divisions though, with Anna Rodrigues and Julia Alves each retaining their titles in the light-featherweight and lightweight divisions before the super-heavyweight division was won by Gabrieli Pessanha for the 5th year in a row.

Fellipe Andrew moved up in weight to challenge himself at light-heavyweight and he came away with another title to add to his collection, while Bruno Lima took his place as the middleweight champion. Yuri Hendrex dethroned Zayed Alkatheeri at light-featherweight, taking the title from the local hero by beating him directly in the final. This wasn’t the only time that happened either, as Pedro Ramalho did the same to Lucas Protasio at welterweight. Felipe Bezerra became the final men’s champion at super-heavyweight and two former champions returned to glory in the women’s divisions, with Mayssa Bastos and Ingridd Alves reclaiming their titles at roosterweight and middleweight respectively.
