The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Tour – Rome 2024 took place on April 14th, 2024 and the results featured several elite competitors who had made the journey to Italy in order to face one another. This was the first time that Rome was a stop on the ADGS circuit and naturally there was a ton of talented grapplers from the local area competing as well. One of the biggest names was competing in the lightweight division, as Diego ‘Pato’ Oliveira stormed to victory against tough opposition. Welison Fernandes and Jefferson Fagundes were the only two lighter men’s champions, as they won stood on top of the podium at featherweight and light-featherweight respectively.
There were a few surprising winners too, particularly at welterweight where Felipe Ribas managed to win gold and at middleweight where Matheus Vetoraci emerged victorious. There was some great matches in the heaviest men’s weight classes too, as the light-heavyweight division was won by Henrique Betta and Felipe Bezerra triumphed at super-heavyweight. There might have been fewer competitors in the most of the women’s divisions but there were just as much action, particularly at middleweight where Ingridd Alves came out on top in a stacked bracket.
Brenda Larissa had some seriously challenging opponents waiting for her at roosterweight too, but she also managed to come away with the title. On the opposite end of the scales, Yara Soares was the woman who emerged victorious in the heavyweight division. Light-featherweight played host to an impressive performance by Anna Rodrigues, who left undefeated and won the bracket. The final female champion was Maria Delahaye, and the brown belt beat out several elite competitors in order to win gold at lightweight.
