The Emerald City Invitational took place on 10th April and one of the most impressive grapplers to ever come out of 10th Planet. PJ Barch, put on an incredible performance as he dominated the field and took home the $5,000 grand prize. Barch is already a seasoned competitor and has won made appearances for a number of high-profile organizations like Polaris, Fight 2 Win, and Submission Underground. Alongside his single-fight performances, Barch was also part of the 10th Planet team that stormed to victory at Quintet 2 and made it to the finals of the Combat Jiu Jitsu World Championships on his own just last year.
His most recent run was something else entirely though as he managed to submit every single one of his opponents in the Emerald City Invitational and FloGrappling saw fit to award him with the title of “Performance of the Week” on their official YouTube channel. While this amazing feat might have flown under the radar when he initially put on the show, the athletes that Barch took on were by no means easy matches.
In the opening round of the tournament Barch managed to lock up a rear-naked choke against Andrew Solano before moving on to face Werther Marciales in the quarter-final and submitting him with a brutal armbar. The semi-final then saw him face his most decorated opponent of the night, ADCC veteran John Combs, who tapped to a tight heelhook in the end. In his final match of the night he stood opposite a fellow 10th Planet black belt in Alan Sanchez but made quick work of him with a beautiful Kimura from the top.
