Unrivaled 2 took place on February 26th, 2023 and the promotion delivered a night full of exciting results from start to finish in Tokyo, Japan. There was a trio of American grapplers who made the journey to Japan in order to compete at the event and they experienced mixed results in their efforts. After several battles between Japanese grapplers building up to the grand finale, Andrew Tackett took to the mats to take on Murilo Souza and he managed to finish his opponent with a kimura in impressive fashion.

The co-main event then saw two excellent grapplers clashing as Igor Tanabe faced Jacob ‘The Hillbilly Hammer’ Couch. Although Couch is almost certainly more well-known than Tanabe and he trains alongside other elite competitors at Pedigo Submission Fighting, the newly-promoted black belt couldn’t get his game going. Tanabe looked calm and in control on the night, putting in an excellent performance to get the win. The finishing sequence was beautiful as Tanabe passed Couch’s guard, took his back, and locked up a rear-naked choke all in just a matter of seconds.

The main event then saw Andrew’s older brother William Tackett competing against fellow ADCC veteran Kenta Iwamoto. It was just as close as fans would have expected prior to the match taking place, and there was plenty of back-and-forth action between the two elite competitors. Tackett just about managed to get the edge and although he couldn’t finish, he did win the decision by racking up two more points than his opponent.
