UFC BJJ 2 took place on July 31st, 2025 and the promotion took another step forward in their second event, hosting their first title-defense and crowning their fourth champion. Although most of the attention coming in to the event was on the two title-fights, every match on the card featured top competitors and many of them are going to be angling for title-shots of their own in the promotion’s next few events. The first match of the night actually featured the fastest finish too, as 19 year-old Jalen Fonacier took just one minute and seven seconds to catch Everton Teixeira with a heel hook for the win.
The second match saw two women making their promotional debut, as Tammi Musumeci and Leilani Bernales battled it out across all three rounds. Bernales likely won the second round against her more-accomplished opponent but Musumeci got the nod from the judges. It was back to another quick finish in the next match, as Aurelie Le Vern hit a devastating americana to submit Maggie Grindatti Lira. There was actually only one other decision in the entire event, and it came up in the next match between Kennedy Maciel and Ademir Barreto. Although Barreto had a deep ankle-lock attempt in the first round, Maciel got back into the match over the next two rounds and won the decision.
ADCC veteran Morgan Black was up next and she was the favorite against Raquel Canuto, but it was never going to be an easy match. Canuto scored yet another huge upset in her recent run of them, rolling into a kneebar for the finish soon after they hit the ground. Then William Tackett and Kyle Chambers came out for a rematch and Tackett got his revenge in a flawless showing, passing Chambers’ guard and setting up an arm-triangle choke. He transitioned to Chambers’ back from there and sunk in the rear-naked choke quickly to get the tap, levelling the score in their series.
That’s when it was time for the co-main event, where Mason Fowler was facing David Garmo for the inaugural light-heavyweight title. Fowler was in control from start to finish, hitting an ankle-pick to put Garmo down early and passing immediately to turtle. From there he sunk in both hooks and locked up the rear-naked choke after just two minutes of action. Then Andrew Tackett and Renato Canuto both came out very aggressively in the main event, trading takedowns and sweeps in the first few minutes. Tackett suddenly snatched a D’arce choke during an attempted wrestle-up from Canuto and eventually got the finish just a few seconds before the first round ended.
