Roger Gracie is often referred to as the greatest BJJ competitor in the history of the sport, and Braulio Estima is also one of the most successful competitors ever with several IBJJF and ADCC World Championships to his name. In fact, both men are part of an incredibly small group of nine elite grapplers who have managed to win both their weight and the absolute division at the same ADCC World Championship event. As a result, footage of this pair of phenomenal talents training together while they were at the very height of their powers is truly an awesome thing to see.
They spent over a decade training together of course and these kind of fast-paced and intense rolling sessions were no doubt incredibly commonplace with the footage below being just a small example of the training room wars that would’ve gone on. Sadly, Roger retired from regular competition all the way back in 2010 and Estima followed suit in 2014 so very little footage exists of the two training together. After all, back in the early 2000s and beyond, filming training wasn’t something that was done very often at all and if it was, it certainly wasn’t released online for all to see.
The video footage of Roger Gracie and Braulio Estima training together was uploaded to the official YouTube channel for MMA veteran Jaime Jara:
