Scott Coker seems happy to continue his longstanding association with the Gracie family in MMA after announcing that Robson Gracie Jr will be fighting at Bellator 246 against Billy Goff. The news was originally reported by MMA Junkie, who revealed that the fight had been rebooked for September 12th event after originally being scheduled for Bellator 241 in March. Neither man actually pulled out of the fight, the entire event was scrapped along with many other Bellator and UFC cards due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bellator’s love for the famous Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu family is well-known and seems to show no signs of slowing down any time soon as Robson Gracie Jr will compete on the very same card as his more experienced nephew, Neiman Gracie. Not just that, but only Bellator 245 takes place only 24 hours before Bellator 246 and will feature the return of Khonry Gracie, son of Royce Gracie. At the moment, Robson Jr is the only one of the three members of the Gracie family competing on that weekend who still holds an unbeaten record.
It’s worth noting that he’s only three fights deep into his professional MMA career, whereas Neiman only lost in his tenth fight which was for the Bellator Welterweight Championship against Rory MacDonald. Robson Jr’s fourth opponent, Billy Goff, has a modest 2-2 professional record and is currently on a two-fight losing streak. As such, this may be something of an uphill battle for him as he faces off against a man who’s been grappling for as long as he could walk and has finished all three of his opponents by Submission.
