Renato Canuto just took to the cage once again at Tuff-N- Uff 152, leaving it with his perfect record intact. The elite grappler has looked incredible during his MMA career so far and although he’s only 4 fights deep, he must be getting some attention from the UFC by now. He already has a great relationship with them thanks to his frequent appearances on both UFC Fight Pass Invitational and UFC BJJ events, but he’s proven he can be just as successful in MMA now. Canuto has so far been competing exclusively for TNU on the regional MMA circuit but after finishing 4 opponents in the first round, he deserves a bigger challenge.
Canuto came into this fight with Dylan Aparis with a total of just over 5 minutes of time in the cage across his first 3 fights so naturally everyone was on the lookout for another quick finish. He delivered exactly that, taking just 1:45 to get the win over Aparis. Both men looked happy to strike at first and Canuto was showing off some excellent distance-management. He was moving in and out very quickly and he fired off a short right hand while Aparis was coming forward, dropping him to the mat just inside the first 30 seconds and rushing forward to capitalise on it.
He kept up a stream of strikes against the cage but Aparis threw some wild hooks to force Canuto back and get into the centre once again. Aparis came forward with hard shots and backed Canuto up against the cage; clearly looking to finish the fight early himself. Canuto shot in and Aparis stuffed it; breaking free and pressuring Canuto into the cage once again. He landed some hard shots and although they were both trading at first, Canuto shot in again. Aparis stuffed it well and both men started to swing for the fences but Canuto caught him with another right hand that dropped him, before jumping in for the finish.
