The first ever Who’s Number One Championships event is right around the corner and now the third out of five divisions has been fully announced, the men’s Middleweight bracket. Naturally, fans were excited at the prospect of the event anyway but when the first division was announced it became abundantly clear that FloGrappling was really pulling out all of the stops in booking the biggest names in the sport.
Shortly after the men’s Lightweight division was announced, the women’s 115lbs division followed and it was equally impressive as the promotion secured appearances by eight of the best female grapplers on the planet. The Middleweight division of the Who’s Number One Championships is no exception either as it includes Craig Jones, the silver medalist from the 88kg division of ADCC 2019, and two fourth-placed finishers from the same event in the 77kg and 88kg divisions, Dante Leon and Jon ‘Thor’ Blank respectively.
Just like the other divisions before it, this one also includes a number of young talented prodigies who are more than capable of providing the upset. Micael Galvao has already established himself as one of the best teenage grapplers on the planet and Tye Ruotolo will be competing alongside his brother Kade, who entered the Lightweight division. The appearance of 21 year-old Roberto Jimenez offers Ruotolo the chance at revenge, as he has already beaten both Tye and Kade Ruotolo on two separate occasions each.
The final two competitors are also relatively new on the elite competition scene but both have been making waves at the highest levels. The posterboy for Pedigo Submission Fighting, Andrew Wiltse, will get his chance to compete against Roberto Jimenez again after being forced to withdraw from the Road to ADCC event. Finally, Brazilian Fight Factory’s William Tackett will be rounding out what seems like it might turn out to be the most exciting division of the event so far.
The full men’s Middleweight edition of the Who’s Number One (WNO) Championships will be available to watch live on September 25th and 26th, along with every other division, on FloGrappling, click here to subscribe and watch.
