Kayla Harrison managed to reach her tenth professional MMA fight and maintain her unbeaten record at PFL 6, dishing out a single round packed full of punishment to Cindy Dandois. In the lead up to the fight, Dandois was seen as one of the stiffest challenges that Harrison has faced in her career so far as a freestyle wrestler and fellow Judoka, although admittedly at nowhere near the level as the two-time Olympic champion.
Dandois was coming into the fight off a recent loss in her PFL debut, but she had a solid 16-5 record prior to that and has proven herself to be a good grappler in several different promotions like Invicta FC and RIZIN. That difference in professional MMA experience proved to mean absolutely nothing once the cage doors closed as Harrison put in all of the same work that she’s done nine times before, and got the same result. Dandois shot for a single-leg takedown early that proved to be her undoing as Harrison shut it down and immediately started raining down heavy shots from the top.
It was all downhill from there as she ate several strikes before eventually being able to recover guard. From there, Harrison passed straight to side control and advanced to mount while throwing punches the entire time. Dandois made several attempts to escape and at one point left her arm exposed, which Harrison took full advantage of and secured a tight armbar to get the tap. This gave Harrison her sixth first-round finish and eighth finish overall, proving once again that she’s more than ready for the the best competition available in the women’s Lightweight division.
