Real American Freestyle have just announced a very surprising co-main event for RAF 7 on March 28th, 2026, as Colby Covington and Dillon Danis will be battling it out. It’s a booking that seems to have come out of nowhere, as the men have no history with each other at all. Instead it seems to have been booked based on both men’s ability to talk trash and sell the fights that they take part in. There’s only a few weeks left before it takes place but that’s more than enough time for Covington and Danis to get in to some back and forth on social media or in interviews.
Both men are renowned for their trash talk, although they’ve both faced plenty of criticism for stepping over the mark in the past. Danis has even gotten into quite a bit of legal trouble recently; most notably the lawsuit that Logan Paul’s fiancee Nina Agdal filed against him. That’s actually something that he’s still working through at the moment, although it clearly isn’t stopping him from competing. This isn’t the only match that Danis has announced recently, he will also be returning to Jiu-Jitsu competition for the first time in 9 years when he faces Craig Jones in the main event of CJI 3.
The most unusual part of Danis taking this matchup is undoubtedly the ruleset though, as he has not competed in any high-profile freestyle wrestling matches before. Danis does have a little bit of experience with wrestling in general though, having competed in folkstyle wrestling while he was in high school. His experience is nothing compared to Covington’s though of course; as he has competed in hundreds of matches all throughout high school and college. He was also a NCAA Division I All-American and he has since used his wrestling to great success in MMA, becoming the UFC welterweight interim world champion.
