Arman Tsarukyan just got a huge win over Muhammad Mokaev in their main event submission grappling match at Hype Fighting: Brazil on March 11th, 2026. Both men are talented grapplers so this was always going to be an exciting match, but the size difference proved to be a noticeable factor. Mokaev competes at flyweight and Tsarukyan at lightweight so there is usually around 30lbs or more between them; and it really showed. Full credit to Mokaev for taking the match on just a few days’ notice as a late-replacement, but Tsarukyan looked phenomenal.
Tsarukyan secured a rear-bodylock fairly early on and he was able to follow up the position with a takedown, landing in Mokaev’s guard. From there he played a suffocating top game, passing Mokaev’s guard and forcing him to turn to his knees to get back up. Tsarukyan caught the front-headlock to prevent that, but Mokaev was able to recover guard at least. Tsarukyan passed again shortly after and although Mokaev managed to reguard by turtling again, it wasn’t long before Tsarukyan passed a third time. He was able to step into mount just after the halfway point of the match and it allowed him to control Mokaev much more effectively.
Mokaev escaped again but Tsarukyan caught the front-headlock once more, this time looking for a choke pretty quickly. Mokaev defended well but wound up back in bottom side control; where he spent quite a lot of time up until this point. Mokaev tried to wrestle up again but Tsarukyan got behind him this time, putting his first hook in immediately after breaking him down. Tsarukyan shot his arm under the chin for the rear-naked choke with just one hook in and it was tight right from the start. Mokaev stood and slammed him but it just allowed Tsarukyan to put a second hook in while he maintained the squeeze, putting Mokaev to sleep within seconds.
