After seeing Mir and Nogeuira go at it again…I was thinking how rarely we see 2 world class black belts go head to head in MMA these days. It would be awesome to have a fight card one of these days that matches up the top BJJ guys fighting MMA against each other. What would be your dream card? Here’s what I would definitely pay to see:

Demian Maia vs. Jacare Souza
Frank Mir vs. Fabricio Werdum
Roger Gracie vs. Vinny Magalhaes
Andre Galvao vs. Jake Shields
Marcio Cruz vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
Ronny Markes vs. Rousimar Palhares
Shinya Aoki vs. BJ Penn
Bibiano Fernandes vs. Viitor Shaolin Ribeiro

Wow, you pretty much nailed them all…Xande vs Roger in MMA would be funny to watch, although I think Xande pretty much gave up on any more MMA fights.

Many times when you see BJJ vs BJJ, it’s like wrestler vs wrestler. They just pop kickboxing shots at each other for 3 rounds.

I still want to see those matchups, but a pure grappling ruleset might be more interesting to watch.

Depends, because, for example, Maia vs Jacare…I see Jacare striking more than anything. Actually, it would probably force Maia to strike too because Jacare can neutralize Maia on the ground. So that would be a totally interesting MMA match.

Well, since Maia is spiralling down and Toquinho is on the rise…this fight ain’t happening. I want to see Toquinho vs Belfort though…
