Flavio "Cachorrinho" Almeida is one of Gracie Barra’s most important figures and is the brother of grappling and MMA veteran Ricardo Almeida. He has been able to interconnect his love for both business and jiu-jitsu successfully. Jits Magazine had the opportunity to get a quick update on his projects.

Jits: What have you been up to lately? Fill us in on your endeavors including your own entrepreneurial and Gracie Barra projects.
Flavio: I guess the best way to define what I do is being an ambassador for Gracie Barra. All my work activities are related to implementing Master Carlos Gracie Jr's vision of jiu-jitsu for everyone and establishing BJJ schools in all cities worldwide. Part of my time goes towards teaching and mentoring students and staff at Gracie Barra San Clemente and Gracie Barra Dana Point where I am a head instructor. The rest of my time goes towards several excitiing projects related to the Gracie Barra Association where I am an executive director.
Jits: Any thoughts on going back to competing at the highest level? Any temptation?
Flavio: Yes. I am squeezing my schedule to be able to train for the Pan 2012. Hope to get back in shape and be able to represent GB well.
Jits: Are there any future plans coming from your end that we should be expecting?
Flavio: My work life is pretty intense and exciting. I don't envision any major changes in the direction I am going in 2012. My brother Ricardo and I have been discussing doing some business ventures together. We have a lot in common and our skills complement very well. So for the first time in years, we will be joining forces and a lot will come out of this partnership for our students and jiu-jitsu in general.
